    Studies have shown that Turmeric has anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant activity, and may be effec tive in preventing the onset of Alzheimer’s. Turmeric's anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving properties support its traditional use in the treatment of arthritis, rheumatism, asthma, eczema and other inflammatory conditions.  Turmeric displays anti-bacterial properties, and is believed to assist in lowering blood cholesterol, as well as inhibiting blood clotting.

 

Ginger has been a traditional Asian remedy for colds and flu for thousands of years. It aids digestion, improves circulation and is a popular remedy for nausea.  It helps improve the immune system, and can also be used to protect against respiratory and digestive infections.  Research has shown that ginger lowers blood cholesterol levels and may help to prevent atherosclerosis and heart disease.

 

Cinnamon is a powerful anti-bacterial and anti-fungal agent.  It assists with the regulation of blood sugar levels, increases blood circulation, and can reduce the bloating and discomfort of irritable bowel syndrome. It is used as a remedy for flatulence, diarrhoea and indigestion, and may also help to relieve the pain of arthritis.

 

Cayenne pepper, when taken internally, stimulates the digestive system and is often used to treat flatulence, colic, constipation and indigestion.  It increases blood circulation, and has been found to be helpful in the treatment of chilblains.  Cayenne cream or ointment can be used to reduce the pain and inflammation from arthritis, joint/muscle pain, lumbago and skin irritations.
